The October Holocaust by Evan Risch, medical student

From the tents of Kedar - en masse - they came,
They took our loved ones off to living hell
And tore our souls and lit our world aflame;
The world watched idly as our houses fell.
May those who hate us be repulsed in shame;
And for all time may God erase their name.

For far too long have we endured disdain;
We've lived too long among those who hate peace.
For far too long have we lived with such pain;
How long before they made the bloodshed cease?

We danced with the Torah since others couldn't;
We rallied, resolute, when others wouldn't--
As terrifying inklings wafted in
Like smoke from distant fires. Now from within
We kindle flames of new tenacity,
Our hearts ablaze with sure vivacity.
